I’m Josh. Most people know me as Teardrop
I’m Joshua John Teare, known professionally as Teardrop, an American DJ, MC, and event producer. With over two decades of experience, I’m not just known for what happens behind the decks—I’m trusted for shaping the full experience from start to finish. I blend music, hosting, and production to guide the energy of every event.
Raised in San Ramon, California, I grew up surrounded by the Bay Area’s mix of sound and culture—drawn early to trance, techno, and house, which sparked my love for music. Today, my sets move freely across genres and generations, blending cultures and eras in open-format mixes built in real time to move people.
Through my brand, Moment Entertainment, I deliver more than music. My work spans intelligent lighting, cold sparks, smoke effects, staging, and cinematic sound design—each element chosen to enhance the atmosphere. Whether it’s an intimate wedding or a high-energy celebration, my focus on flow, detail, and authenticity makes every event.
I’m not just the DJ or MC—I’m often the quiet showrunner and host: building timelines, managing transitions, reading the room, and adjusting before anyone asks. My calm, prepared presence keeps everything smooth while letting guests simply enjoy the moment.
Outside of events, I’ve spent more than 15 years working in marketing technology and leading teams that support large organizations. That experience shapes how I plan, communicate, solve problems, and manage the many moving parts behind an event.
As a lifelong learner, I’m also passionate about language and culture. Fluent in both English and Español, I’m studying my heritage and beyond—Deutsch, Diné, Français, Gaelg, Português—with the goal of connecting with people on a deeper level, both through music and conversation.
When I’m not performing or producing, I’m at home in Mapleton, Utah, with my wife, four children, and our ten species of pets. Whether I’m DJing a wedding, road-tripping with family, or winding down after a long week, my approach stays the same: every moment deserves the right soundtrack—and I love creating the ones that stay with you long after the music fades.

I specialize in multicultural and cross-cultural celebrations—bringing together languages, traditions, generations, and musical styles with preparation, respect, and genuine curiosity.
I’m familiar with culturally significant dances, songs, customs, and celebration moments, and I work closely with each client to understand how their family observes them. I host fluently in English and Spanish and, as a developing multilingual linguist, can incorporate carefully prepared names, introductions, and scripted announcements in additional languages. Working with you or a trusted native speaker, I verify pronunciation, wording, musical selections, timing, meaning, and cultural context so every person, tradition, and important moment is represented with confidence and respect.
The right music, timing, introduction, and energy make all the difference. I prepare for the dances, traditions, speakers, presentations, and transitions that make each event its own.

1-2 hours before the event begins to set up our equipment, touch base, and conduct sound and lighting checks. ☑️

Absolutely, we offer music services for ceremonies, receptions, and any other special moments during your event. ☑️
Each part of the agenda deserves the right level of energy, which is measured between 1 and 5, where 1 is calm instrumental music and 5 is a total dancing banger. Most music, for example, will range between 2 and 4. ⚡️

We have a vast music library and can cater to a wide range of genres, from pop and rock to hip-hop, EDM, and more. We'll work with you to create the perfect playlist, including what you do not want to hear.

The more technical abilities include, but are not limited to—and generally have more than one applied—the following:

We have worked at numerous venues in the area and are familiar with the setup and acoustics. If we haven't been to your venue before, we'll visit it in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly. 😊

Our cancellation policy is outlined in our contract, which we can provide upon booking. Generally, we require advance notice and may have a cancellation fee, but we are understanding of unforeseen circumstances.
Half of the booking amount is due to reserve your event window with our services.
